Fabric Resistance Bands vs Rubber or Latex

What are resistance bands and how can they help?
Resistance bands are basically specially designed fitness accessories, which are designed to enable people to perform resistance-based strength training exercises without the need of free weights. While many powerlifters out there will throw on their knee sleeves and wrist wraps and start repping heavy barbells, many of them are also now utilizing resistance bands as part of their training, and they are reaping the rewards. The great thing about both fabric, and rubber resistance bands, is the fact that they both maintain constant levels of tension and resistance, so cheating is never an option. The heavy resistance bands are also much harder to utilize than a lot of people realise. Okay, maybe you won’t need to throw on your wrist wraps and leather gym weightlifting belt to use them, but they are very tough, there’s no denying that. Resistance bands allow you to perform variations of a number of tried and tested strength training exercises which target different muscle groups of the body.
Latex resistance bands
Latex or rubber resistance bands are generally the most common types of resistance band currently on the market. These usually come in packs of 3 or 5, with each one providing a different level of tension. The different colours of the bands indicate the level of tension the band provides. Now, one thing that sets them apart from their fabric counterparts, is the fact that they stretch further than fabric bands, potentially allowing for a greater range of motion. They can sometimes roll up, which is useful for packing them away, but not so much when you’re in the middle of a workout with them. They’re generally more affordable than fabric ones.
Fabric resistance bands
Fabric resistance bands are normally sold individually, rather than in packs. They also do not stretch as well as rubber bands and are normally used for specific exercises such as crab walks, squats, and hip thrusters. As you can see, these are mainly lower-body exercises. Upper-body exercises are typically not associated with fabric resistance bands. They are however, much stronger than rubber bands and are great for seasoned lifters. Many of them even have in-built grips and handles to ensure they don’t go anywhere as you use them.
